Many people think that manufactured homes and modular homes are the same thing, though this is not the case. While there are some similarities, there are also fundamental differences that set them apart.

Manufactured homes, formerly called mobile homes or trailers, are constructed in consideration of a permanent chassis designed to purchase over-the-road transportation and delivered to the home in one or more sections according to the National Manufactured Home The quality of construction and Safety Standards Act of 1974 enforced by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This is why they are also called HUD-Code homes.
